Hi, I'm Hijinx and I've been a magician in New York City for more years than I care to tell you. I've done magic shows for birthday parties from the Eastside to the Westside uptown downtown and all around this town. From magic shows in Central Park at picnic birthday parties to appearances at FAO Schwartz and Toys "R" Us for big birthday bashes - if it's a fun party for kids in Manhattan I can help you make it more fun.
My magic show is designed to entertain children of all different age levels. The show is completely customizable based upon the needs of my audiences. I have certain tricks that are appropriate for toddlers and very young children and then I have more sophisticated sleight-of-hand magic for the older kids.
A regular favorite at birthday parties is my sweet bunny rabbit and magical assistant Tabatha. Kids just love it when I produce the bunny from my hat. I know it may be hackneyed, but it is a popular request at birthday parties.
Besides just doing spectacular magic that amazes and amuses children of all ages I'm also a pretty good juggler, comedian, and balloon artiste. (Well at least that's what the kids think).
I started doing magic back when I was only six years old. My sister bought me my first magic kit and from that day on I was hooked on the art of conjuring. I grew up in Brooklyn New York and one day discovered a magic shop on Coney Island Avenue. After hanging around the shop week after week I got a job behind the counter. Soon the shop was booking me out to appear at parties and other special occasions. I was 15 years old then. Now, 30 years later I've gotten pretty good at it!
I've been lucky enough to appear on NBC, Comedy Central and soon to be seen on MTV. I've appeared at top comedy clubs like Dangerfield's, Carolines and dozens of other houses of mirth. As a kid I spent summers performing street magic at the South Street Seaport, Battery Park and the World Trade Center.
My favorite type of audience to entertain is a family audience. My clients tell me that the adults enjoy my kids show just as much if not more than the children do! The secret behind my kids show success is humor. If I have a choice between tricking an audience or making them laugh, I'll almost always choose laughter.
My weekends usually sell out pretty quickly, so if you're interested in hiring me for your child's birthday party please be advised that it's best to call as soon as possible to reserve your date.
I'm only one magician and in a city of millions of people having hundreds of parties every weekend chances are I'm booked - but don't let that discourage you. If I can't personally do your party I'll be happy to help you find a terrific children's entertainer in New York.
